Turquoise Ridge is located in the Potosi Mining District, northeast of Winnemucca, Nevada, United States. Turquoise Ridge uses underhand cut-and-fill mining methods and ore is transported to Newmont’s Twin Creeks mill for processing. The refractory gold ore is treated by pressure oxidation technology and gold is recovered using conventional carbon-in-leach technology.
The Goldrush project is an underground mine under development in Nevada, United States. Average annual production for the first full five years of operation is expected to be approximately 450,000 ounces of gold. Goldrush is expected to have a mine life of 21 years, with first production as early as 2021, and sustained production in 2023.
The Cortez mine is located 100 kilometers southwest of Elko, Nevada in the United States. The Pipeline and Cortez Hills deposits are mined by conventional open-pit methods, and the Cortez Hills underground is an underhand cut and fill operation.
The S11D mine and plant are located in Canaã dos Carajás, in the southeastearn state of Pará. The project will start commercial operations in January 2017. Total investments are estimated at US$ 14.3 billion, of which US$ 6.4 billion in the mine and plant and US$ 7.9 billion in building a 101-km railway branch line, double-tracking the Carajás Railway and expanding Ponta da Madeira Maritime Terminal in São Luís.
Phase 2 of the Oyu Tolgoi Copper and Gold Mine in Mongolia involves a Deep shaft in the Hugo Block. The underground mine has an average copper grade of 1.66 percent, more than three times higher than the open pit mine.
The Kansanshi mine, the largest copper mine in Africa, is 80% owned by Kansanshi Mining PLC, a First Quantum subsidiary. The remaining 20% is owned by a subsidiary of ZCCM. The mine is located approximately 10 kilometres north of the town of Solwezi and 180 kilometres to the northwest of the Copperbelt town of Chingola.
The Ranger Uranium Mine is a uranium mine in the Northern Territory of Australia owned by the Rio Tinto Group. The mine commenced operation in 1980 and reached full production of uranium oxide in 1981.
